First W4H classes on an active military base!

I am honored to have attended the first Warriors for Healing (W4H) Teacher Training in August and am now the first certified Warriors for Healing teacher to establish and teach recurring W4H classes on a military base!

After meeting Bhava Ram at the Yoga Journal Conference in Coronado and attending the W4H Premier Event I knew that I wanted to be a part of this remarkable organization. The Yoga Alliance approved W4H teacher training was open to a small group of registered yoga teachers and featured experts on yoga science, mindfulness, meditation, adaptive yoga, and included both Navy and Marine veterans offering an honest and experienced viewpoint. As I work on my masters degree I continue to find scientific research proving the healing benefits of yoga. I chose to attend this training to gain more knowledge on how yoga can assist not only military members but also first responders, survivors of domestic violence, and those dealing with traumatic life stress and PTSD.

Upon returning home I met with key civilian and veteran professionals working for Marine Corps Community Services and am ecstatic to announce that I began teaching W4H yoga classes at MCAS Yuma this month! These classes are open to people with base access including active duty service members, veterans, and their families. It is a blessing to lead classes where I can incorporate the information & techniques I learned during my W4H training and years of teaching to serve the men and women who serve our country as well as the families and community that support them.

In gratitude,

Rachel
